We've gathered all known limitations of each client application. Please note that these are subject to change.

PC Client:

  • Capacity:
    • For optimal performance, we recommend storing no more than 300 000 items (total number of files and folders) in a single share, and no more than 1 000 000 items across all shares.
  • Upload:
    • For optimal performance, we recommend queuing no more than 5000 items at once for upload.
    • A bandwidth of minimum 10 Mbps / 1.25 MB/s is required to upload files larger than 150 MB.
  • Download:
    • If you'd like to export a large volume of data from RushFiles, it's recommended that you enable Start Sync on the folder or Share you'd like to copy out. Once the data is downloaded, you can safely start copying from RushFiles to the destination.
  • File types:
    • Microsoft Access files are not recommended to be used on RushFiles (or on other cloud file-sharing systems) as they will likely become corrupted.
    • Applications can not be installed on the RushFiles drive.
    • However, Portable applications can be run from the RushFiles drive.
    • Hidden files are ignored by the client application by design. They appear only locally in the file system, but are never uploaded to the cloud, and not safe to store on the drive.

macOS Client:

  • Symbolic links not supported.
  • Downloaded files may be removed from the local cache automatically, depending on available space on your local drive. This is an "always-on" feature of the FileProvider library that our app is built upon.

iOS Client:

  • No known limitations.

Android Client:

  • Internet connection is needed to preview file types that require conversion to pdf in order to be previewed. Find the full list in our Android client article.

New Web Client:

Note: The New Web Client is in Beta. Issues and missing features are to be expected.

  • Share List / Public Links:

    • When adding a folder for upload, only the files found inside the folder structure are uploaded, directly to the destination you chose. File name conflicts are resolved by adding a "Duplicate date-time" suffix.
    • Files larger than 20 MB in size can not be previewed, and must be downloaded.
    • When editing files using Office Online, please be aware of its limitations.
    • By default, you can create 10 subfolder shares per share, and 25 users can be added to a subfolder share. If you'd like to increase these numbers, contact your RushFiles Reseller.
