We have discovered a bug wherein MS Word files (i.e., .docx) that are saved in the U:\ drive via the "Save As" function uploads a 0kb and a duplicate file to the RushFiles cloud.
Issue Determination:
On macOS 13 Ventura, when saving a file from MS Word via the "Save As" function, 0kb, and duplicate files get uploaded to the RushFiles cloud instead of the original version.
Affected Item(s):
- macOS Users
- Device: Mac
- Operating System: macOS Ventura 13.x.x
- Software: MS Word
- Function: "Save As" (direct to the U:\ drive)
Solution:
Users are advised to avoid updating to macOS 13 Ventura in the meantime as the primary preventive action; otherwise, refrain from using the "Save As" function of the MS Word software.
Alternatively, users are suggested to "Save As" files from MS Word to the local drive, then transfer them to the U:\ drive.
What to do with the affected files?
1. Open Finder.
2. Look for the affected file from the RushFiles drive.
3. Open a browser (i.e., Safari or Google Chrome).
4. Log in to the Web Client.
5. Look for the affected file (with 0 B file size) from the corresponding Share or Folder.
6. Delete the 0 B file version of the affected file.
7. Click on the vertical ellipsis button, and hit "Refresh".
8. The actual file will be uploaded shortly, which also indicates the appropriate file size.
9. Finally, download a copy of the affected file into your computer
Note: Do not attempt to delete the actual file from the RushFiles drive, log out or even reinstall the Mac Client app until a permanent solution is released. Doing so will result to getting the actual file deleted and unrecoverable
Status:
We have an ongoing investigation and are working diligently to resolve this issue.
We're truly sorry for the inconvenience.
