This guide serves as an introduction to the RushFiles Android client and its functionalities.

1) Requirements


Operating systems: Android 4.0.3 and above.






2) Download and install


The app with the default RushFiles branding is available at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rushfiles.clouddrive or search for "RushFiles" in Google Play.


For download links to rebranded clients, please contact your RushFiles reseller.






3) Login and app settings


Once you have downloaded and installed the app, tap the RushFiles app on the home screen of your device.


First, you will have to log in with your RushFiles credentials. Tap the button to show your password as you are typing it in. Tap the  button to hide it again.


If you've forgotten your password, you can request a password reset mail by tapping the  button in the Password field. Just input your email address used with RushFiles and tap on Reset Password. You will now receive a mail to this address with a link to reset your password.


When you are logged in, you will see a list of shares available to you. Tap the Settings  button to access the app settings page.


In the Account tab, you can:

✔    See the email address of the currently logged in user

✔    See the version number of the app.

✔    Activate a pincode to be used instead of your password.

✔    Log out of the app.


In the Files tab, you can:

✔    Change the time period downloaded files should be kept for by tapping Keep Downloaded Files.

✔    Delete all downloaded files from your device by tapping Clear local cache.


In the Backup tab, you can:

✔    Select a folder in RushFiles where Images and/or Videos on your device will be automatically uploaded to.

✔    Choose whether you want Images on your device to be backed up to the folder mentioned above. Once you choose this, all images currently stored on your device will be uploaded to the folder you've chosen above.

✔    Choose whether you want Videos on your device to be backed up to the folder mentioned above. Once you choose this, all videos currently stored on your device will be uploaded to the folder you've chosen above.

✔    Enable Auto Image Backup if you want your images and videos to be automatically uploaded to RushFiles when you take them.


To go out of the App Settings menu, tap your device's back button.






4) Working with files


From the share list menu, you can navigate to and download any file that you have access to through RushFiles. Simply tap on the share, folder or file you want to open or preview.

 
Tap the  button to search for the needed file quickly.


To refresh your current view, simply pull down on the screen.


In the following, we'll look at the different options available when working with shares, folders, and files, as well as the bottom menu.






4.a) Share options


To get to the share options menu, tap the  button next to the share. You will now see the Share's details menu.


✔    Sync status shows the share's availability. Tap the button to download everything in the share to your device and keep these files up to date with changes on the cloud. This ensures offline availability of your data.

✔    Tap the button again to disable offline availability. This means that data in this share becomes on-demand, and internet access is required to work with your files. 

✔    Tap your device's back button to go back.


Shares that are available offline have a green mobile device overlay in their bottom-right corner:







4.b) Folder options


To get to the folder options menu, tap thebutton next to the folder. You will now see a the folder's details menu.


✔    Sync status shows the folder's availability. Tap the button to download everything in the folder to your device and keep these files up to date with changes on the cloud. This ensures offline availability of your data. Tap it again to disable it.

✔    The date of the last edit (Changed), the user who made the last edit (By User), and the date of creation (Created) are shown, in this order. The last edit doesn't include changes inside the folder, such as file uploads; only changes done to the folder itself, such as delete, undelete, and rename events.

✔    Tap Rename to rename the folder.

✔    Tap Delete to delete the folder.

✔    Tap Create public link to create a link to this folder. The link URL will be placed in your clipboard.

✔    Tap Cancel to go back.






4.c) File options


To get to the file options menu, tap thebutton next to the file. You will now see a new menu.


✔    Sync status shows the folder's availability. Tap the button to download this file and keep it up to date with changes on the cloud. This ensures offline availability of your data. Tap it again to disable this.

✔    The date of the last edit (Changed), the user who made the last edit (By User), and the date of the first upload (Created) are shown, in this order.

✔    Tap Share to download and share the file with a compatible app.

✔    Tap Rename to rename the file.

✔    Tap Delete to delete the file.

✔    Tap Create public link to create a link to this folder. The link URL will be placed in your clipboard.

✔    Tap Lock file to lock the file. While locked, only you can make changes to this file. Other users can access a read-only version instead.

✔    Tap Always available to have this file always downloaded to your device. Tap this again to disable it.

✔    Tap Cancel to close this menu.






4.d) Bottom menu


You might have noticed the menu on the bottom of the screen when you are inside a folder, or are previewing a file.


In the Shares menu, the following function is available:

✔     | Tap these buttons to change how items are sorted. Tap to sort items by Last Modified Date. Tap the to sort items Alphabetically.


When inside a folder, the following functions are available:

✔     | Tap these buttons to change how items are sorted. Tap the to sort items by Last Modified Date. Tap the to sort items Alphabetically.

✔    Tap this to see a preview of all images in the folder. In here, you can tap the | buttons to change the sorting from oldest to newest or vice versa. Tap the button in this sub-menu to be able to select multiple images for sharing.

✔    Tap this to create a new folder.

✔    Tap this to upload files to the folder. You can select files that are already on your phone, or you can take a photo now and upload it directly to this folder.


While previewing a file, the following functions are available:

✔    Tap this to save a copy on your device outside of RushFiles.

✔    Tap this to rename the file.

✔    Tap this to create a public link to the file. The link URL will be placed in your clipboard.

✔    Tap this to delete the file.

✔    Tap this to reach the File Options menu (section 4.c) )




Note Only images can be previewed directly in the app. Tapping other file types will download the file, and bring up the Share dialog. Here, you can choose which app to open the file with.
 







5) Uninstallation


Uninstall the app like you would uninstall any other app from your device.

This can be done either through Google Play, the Settings menu, or by tapping and holding the app icon on your home screen.
